Our Family Roots
Our story is deeply rooted in family, heritage, and traditions passed down from one generation to the next. We are a Caló Romani family, with family roots in Granada, Spain, whose story later found a new home in Puerto Rico. The coming together of our Romani heritage, Mediterranean influences, and Caribbean culture has become an essential part of our identity, shaping the way we understand spirituality, nature, different religious traditions, and our relationship with the world around us.
Since 1890, our family has preserved knowledge, practices, and recipes that have been carefully passed down through generations. Cartomancy, intuition, and various forms of spiritual practice have also formed part of this family legacy, evolving with each generation whilst remaining connected to their roots.
Over the years, our products and the family ventures behind them have carried different names, reflecting the times, places, and generations entrusted with continuing this legacy. The names may have changed, and each generation has left its own mark, but the essence has remained: many of the recipes we use today retain their original foundations, passed down within our family since the nineteenth century.
Today, Veil of Shadows represents the newest chapter in this story. Our products and services continue to draw upon this family knowledge, preserving the traditions we inherited whilst thoughtfully adapting them for the present day.
For us, Veil of Shadows is more than a name. It is the continuation of a family story spanning generations; a meeting point between past and present, where the recipes, knowledge, and practices entrusted to us by those who came before can be preserved, evolve, and continue into the generations yet to come.
